To Peter Athans and all potential customers,
Often people take time to write about their grief when dealing with businesses. Seldom do they take the time to write about the good experiences. In this economic climate, it is very tempting for individuals to succumb to shortcomings good character such as cutting corners and dishonesty. This letter is to confirm the good in people.
On August 28th, 2010 my family and I drove our newly purchased used 2001 Volvo V70XC back from Clarksville, Iowa to Chicago to spend one full day there before heading home to Connecticut. I decided an oil change would be wise for the nearly 1,000 miles journey back home. I brought the vehicle to Firestone in Arlington. While on the lift, it was brought to my attention that both the front-end suspension springs were broken and posed a very dangerous result without immediate attention. I truly had every reason to believe the vehicle purchase was worth the while. Then, Firestone quoted me over $2,200 dollars in repairs. I was angry with the seller for not disclosing this to me prior to my purchase. With myself, I felt shame and regret. I flew my family this far on a very tight budget with no money to return home on time for work and the first day of school for my children.
I called the previous owner and threatened to report him to authorities. He immediately complied to pay for the repairs and to his credit made the necessary steps to rectify the situation. He mentioned various quotes he had received and the most reasonable was from Athans Motors. I digress to reveal the actual dollar amount of the quote however I can assure you Athan’s was most reasonable. We managed to secure a morning appointment
With the following morning drive, I expected to arrive at a dirty, dingy, dark corner garage. I was pleasantly surprised. Athans Motors had the appearance of any high end full-fledged BMW or Mercedes dealership. I was impressed with the gorgeous inventory of high-end, well maintained vehicles. It was bright and clean.
A young, energetic and very courteous individual, Billy DelaCruz, the Service Manager, respectfully welcomed us. Sensitive to our dilemma, Billy opted not to pass judgement on us or negatively comment those involved in our predicament. Instead, Billy chose the higher ground to listen to our concerns and focus on solutions. He immediately took action to have us up and running. Billy then introduced us to the very attractive Brianna Anderson of Customer Relations (I did state that things only get better). She brought us some coffee and refreshments. We relaxed in their first class lobby.
In the mean time, I was signing off on paperwork for a loaner vehicle. Adjacent to me was the garage. I noticed how clean and well kept it was. I always felt that the garage is the undergarment of a well-dressed auto shop. Athan’s Motors was clean in and out.
In the lobby, Sales Consultant, Earl Goldberg had struck up a conversation with my wife kids about education. He mentioned that his daughter is a student at the University of Connecticut. Ironically, my daughter already considered attending UCONN next year. I could be mistaken, however I believe Earl was genuine in conversation unlike many salesman. After all, he knew we were from out of town with no intentions of making a purchase. He was a not being a salesman. Earl was a gentleman.
Given our situation and as out-of-towners, Billy suggested that we checkout and enjoy downtown Chicago with a complimentary loaner vehicle. Billy only requested that the gas be refilled to the same level upon return. By the end of the day, we returned to Athans Motors. The Volvo was vacuumed, cleaned and washed. Most importantly, it was road worthy and ready to go.
Billy provided me with a print out of any and all issues with the Volvo. All were minor and would require attention at some point. I offered him a tip for his services. He refused to accept it. He stated he was just content to see us happy and set for the long drive home.
Upon arriving safely and comfortably home, I noticed that my Nikon D70 and Panasonic video camera were missing. I could not pinpoint where I misplaced the camera. I had all my families Chicago photo’s, as well as the video of my son’s first plane ride. It sickened me to think that those moments were lost forever. The following day, a package arrived from Athans Motors. It contained everything I lost including the priceless pictures and video memories of my family, unscathed and in perfect condition.
Mr. Athan’s, we are judged by the company we keep. Without hesitation, I would vouch Athans Motors service is driven by impeccable, passionate and very genuine individuals.
I believe that you Mr. Athans are in good company.
Way to go Billy and all at Athans Motors!
The Anthony family, extend our best wishes of luck and unlimited success for all of you!
Thank you for your great service. It is a pleasure coming to your dealership. Your dealership has everything a person can want. You couldn't do anymore. Thank you for balancing and rotating my tires.Thank you for replacing my blown-out tire and thank you for changing the oil in my mom's 99 Catera. Also, appreciate the explanation of your work. Great place for our cars. Thank you Pete, Tony and Billy.
This was my 7th vehicle from the US and by far the easiest. Earl and Erica were absolutely amazing from beginning to end. As I flew in from Toronto, Canada the paperwork was a little more exhaustive for Erica. She took care of everything including an oil change, a recall, and even ordering me some floor mats (which I paid for of course!) I bought a 2008 VW R32 from Athans Motors. It was clean, no accidents and best of all no stories. It was truly a great experience for me. The dealership is beautiful and looks very high-end. I encourage you Canadians to have a look at some of their vehicles and save THOUSANDS buying from Athans Motors! Thanks again guys! The car is unbelievable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to start off by saying that my experience at Athans Motors was outstanding! From the first time i walked in the door, they treated me like an old friend and valued customer. The First person i had contact with was Kathy Limber, she greeted me with a great smile and a cup of Starbucks coffee, She introduced me to sales consultant Larry LaCoste and Bob LeGault who made me feel welcome and i knew that this would be a place i would enjoy doing business with. They gave me a full tour of their state of the art facility in Morton Grove, Their customer lounge is a must see for instance, it has large screen TV's, Leather theater seating and video games for all ages, from there i met Tony K the general Maneger, we quickly found we had the same passion for motorcycles. His upbeat approach and knowledge of the industry was refreshing and sealed the deal for me. Tony then introduced me to the owner Pete Athans who invited me to stay for a bite to eat(they actually cook for their customers and employees on weekends and some weekdays). The service Department that is run by Billy is modern, state of the art and spotless, they take pride in their shop which as a business owner myself is a must. Last but least, the girl that keeps it all together and flowing is Erika the Operations Manager who has a fantastic personality, upbeat approach to her work and is an asset to Athans Motors. My advice is, if you are looking for a car or service for any vehicle, work or personal, they will be more than happy to accomodate with a handshake, smile and a great cup of joe.

I live in Seattle and every Mercedes and BMW dealer in the greater Seattle area must place a "Rain Markup" on European luxury cars. I am not sure how the formula works or if there is an additional left coast tax for cars from Germany but it forced me to search the country for a better price. I looked locally and nationally for several months to find a fully loaded 2008 Mercedes GL 550 (entertainment, keyless go, lighted door sills, iPod input, Bluetooth).
I found the perfect one at Athans Motors and worked with Erika throughout the deal. She was extremely responsive and everything went smoothly. It was the least amount of stress I have ever experienced purchasing a car. When the car arrived and it was as good as new for being 3 years old. Athans did a great job detailing the vehicle and my wife loves it. (Did I mention the same GL with 12,000 more miles and NO DVD player, Keyless Go, or Bluetooth was $13,000 more in Seattle!) I am a happy camper!
NOTE: I tried to organize having the vehicle shipped out on my own and it was an exercise in futility. I asked Erika to find a solution and she took care of it by the end of the day. If you are thinking of doing it on your own, save yourself the brain death and have Athans take care of it!
I encourage people looking for a luxury car at a fair price to do business with Athans.

If I could give Athans Motors more stars I would. Went here for the first time to have my HID bulbs replaced. I could have went to the Audi stealership to have this performed, but wanted to give Athans Motors a try. I had my A3 worked on by Billy and his associates at his previous shop. So I knew my A3 was in good hands.
I was there a hour early for my appointment and was genuinely greeted by the Athans staff. They were attentive to me and my kids while the A3 was serviced. I talked to Earl one of the sale consultants. It was like talking to a family member. The sales staff at the OTHER dealership would never approach me and just talk. Athans is family run business and it shows through it's GREAT customer service and professional workmanship !
This will be one of many visits to get my A3 worked on. I would highly recommend Athans to my family and friends who need automotive work

I have an Audi TT and needed to find a reliable service center. Audi service is way over priced at the Audi dealer and they act like they are special. Athans Motors is a clean, respectable operation. I read reviews before I went to Athans and I was pleasantly surprised that the reviews were correct and positive. I decided to have a few items addressed with my Audi and they approached each one professionally and showed me how to combine some items and save a lot of money. All in all I will be taking my Audi to Billy and the crew at Athans Motors. I feel at home when discussing my Audi and the potential mods and performance upgrades that the crew at Athans are familiar with, and can install. Just a great place for an Audi, BMW, Mercedes and the like. It seems everyone at Athans Motors is a real car enthusiast first. I even took my car in for a noise and in 15 minutes they had solved it! Stop in and I hope you will enjoy your visit as much as I do.
I've been going to Athans since they opened up and I'm never going anywhere else!
I had aftermarket suspension installed on my BMW 135i and an alignment done at Athans Motors. They did an excellent job (I am pretty picky when it comes to cars). The place is really clean and the people that works there are really friendly. Their price is also unbeatable. It was 1/3 as much as the dealership was going to charge me. On top of that they pulled the 'Service Engine Soon' code for me free of charge. Highly Recommended!
